In 2013, it was estimated that each Brazilian produced around 844 pounds of garbage during the year.

It is up to you to decide whether this is a large or small quantity, but you can not argue against one fact: most of this garbage is not properly disposed, without any treatment or separation.

And at sea there are no landfills. And even though there is not a lot of room to storage garbage, the Orient Expedition is committed to not disposing a single liter or pound in the sea.

Check the average time it takes for certain materials to decompose at sea:

Plastic Beverage Bottles: 450 years
Aluminum Can: 80-200 years
Nylon Fabric: 30-40 years
Plastic Bag: 10-20 years
Cigarette Butt: 1-5 years
Newspaper: 6 weeks
Banana Peel: 2-5 weeks

Surprised? Next time you go to the beach, remember to throw trash away properly. This way you prevent animals from eating objects and substances dangerous to their health.
